Wow! What an introduction to S.W.E.A.T! We set off in the bus to Trencreek, near Camelford on Sunday afternoon, full of excitement and nervous intrepidation! When we arrived we met up with the Y.O.T. guys and gals from Maidstone and were given our room allocations. We were woken up “early” for our first session of Physical Training and boy did we train! We were stretched to our max in teams and individually, carrying out various exercises for a number of hours! The “black shirt” leaders were tough on us but really helped us to push ourselves to our limits with a huge amount of encouragement! The other task where we were required to “dig deep” was the night hike – walking 17 miles! Fond memories of singing various versions of “Kum ba yah my Lord” to get us through the last few miles!
I’ve got many happy memories of orientation and I was really happy at how I managed to push myself beyond my limits. It was fantastic to meet so many lovely people – students and leaders alike and to see how God united us and took us all to new, higher levels.
