Hello this is my last blog of SWEAT 2012.

On Sunday we said good bye to the school of the word. They came down for a week to be with us to do part of their mission. This week we have been doing all the preparation for Germany with only a week to go. How exciting Germany will be.

To start the week off we had a briefing for Germany. Travis served us with traditional food that we could have out in Germany. We will be staying with host families so we have been trying to attempt to learn German so we can speak to them.

We have had some teaching from Francis this week. We have been learning about the history of church in the UK, and coming right up to the present day also about the local Plymouth churches.

In the middle of all this it was Evie’s Birthday. She turned 10. When we are out in Germany we are having an English day, where we will be serving them tea/coffee and scones. So this week Matt and I have been practising making scones. They were very yummy. When we are having the day Matt and I will be making over 60 scones.

Mark was on cooking team this week so he thought that seeing as we are having an English day out in Germany, that we would have a German night at home. He brought traditional German food and we had that for tea. We dressed up when we had the German food for dinner. Then on Saturday during the day we all went to Sainsbury’s at Marsh Mills and did a bag pack to

Hi there,

style=”text-align: left;”>This week a training centre called School of the Word (in short SOTW) from Jubilee Church in maidstone came down here to plymouth. Everyone stayed in the SWEAT house. There was 29 people in the house which may sound like a lot but was so much fun.

They came down to teach at Living Well Church about the book of John for 4 nights. The style they used to share the word was very family orientated. We sat around 7 tables, each had one of the ‘I AM’ statements Proclaimed by Jesus, with about 7 people per table. There was a different selection of food on the tables each night which helped to make it feel more relational, rather than structured teachings. I was blown away by the standard of excellence that these guys went to to bless us. Each night was rich and in-depth which left you hungry for more, seeming although we only scratched the surface of what is in John, but we were equipped to know how to delve deeper into the richness of Gods word.

During their stay in the day times we went to various places to serve including Cross Line, Plympton St Maurice Primary School, a farm where we mucked out manure and bag packing at Morrisons. At Plympton St Maurice school the care taker there gave us a long list of jobs that needed doing and he never expected to get through them all so quickly. He was blown away by how quick and efficient we were, so we went the extra mile and helped him by cleaning all the chairs in the school, cleaning out the rooms and doing up the staff room to bless the teachers. The caretaker usually would be doing all these jobs by himself, it was just such a joy for us to go and serve and see the impact we can have on individuals. The SOTW lot bought a load of stuff for the staff room so I look forward to seeing the reaction of the teachers. The bag packing was also great fun, we made £838 which is amazing, and was also a good opportunity to get to know the SOTW guys.

It was so good to get to know these guys, they set such a good example to me of how to reflect, represent and reproduce Christ. Even in the house we would find fun things to do like playing cards or watching 300. It was really good for me in all the times of fellowship where I could share what God has done in my life and for them to share their journey. They all made such a big impact on me by all the encouragements, even the smallest encouragement can make a big change to someone, it is just speaking words of life and truth over people to lift them up. It was quite challenging to me by how much i’m an encouragement to others. I also want to encourage anyone that we should speak words of life over each other to build one another up.

This week was definitely one of the biggest highlights for me this year, its hard to put what God has done for us all this week into words. God has just blessed this week abundantly to us. I will be taking away so many precious memories from this week. I look forward to seeing them again in a few weeks time up in Maidstone so can’t wait for that, also to see the Year of Training guys from orientation.

Thanks for reading this weeks blog.

Hello

Our theme for this week was Poverty. The main objective of the week was for us to have more empathy and compassion for poor people in England and around the world.

To acheive this objective we had to spend the week in a fi

Buy Cheap Viagra Online

eld. We were occasionally visited by the leaders who set us challenges.

Our first challenge was to build two shelters, one for the guys and one for the girls using the a saw, a tarpoline and rope we were given.

Another big challenge we were given was to make a fire and keep it going every day through the day and night. One reason for this was to simulate what it would be like to have to protect your family in a dangerous situation.

On the last day we were sent into town for our final challenges. We had to ask members of the public for different things so that we would experience peoples reactions when we hadn’t washed for a week.

Our challenges continued throughout the week and each one was given to try and simulate what it’s like to live in poverty. We also had limited food and water supplies throughout the week and had to rely on the leaders to occasionally bring us food and water.

The week has reminded me of all the things I take for granted. The hardest thing for me was the limted food. It’s usually so easy for me to go into a cupboard, fridge or shop and get food whenever I feel like it.

Another hard thing was keeping the fire going during the night. As a result we were tired during the day but we still had jobs to to do including cutting wood to keep the fire going.

In town we started to realise a little bit of the rejection homeless people often feel.

This week obviously hasn’t been a walk in the proverbial park but many good things have come from the experience. Every morning and evening we sang worship songs for God and prayed for people in poverty. We also had an amazing answer to prayer whilst we were in town where we were given an abundance of free food! The week has brought us all closer to each other too. I hope that this week will always remind us to help people in poverty. So in a strange way I can say that it’s been a good week and we have enjoyed it.

The sun has been shining, the birds have been singing, which has made our lunches even better. With a wonderful supply of bananas on the BBQ, we made our friday morning all that sweeter.

And it’s not just having the BBQ on at the house that has added to the summer feel; an evening BBQ at Jennycliff Beach, on Wednesday evening, made us want to stay in the glorious sun forever.

Throughout the week we have been part of the “10 days of prayer” run by Churched Together in Plymouth. Joined with Living Well Church we took the slot of Tuesday, running from 6am Tuesday morning till 6am on the Wednesday morning. Taking the late night and early shifts, we managed to fill the spots and places, enjoy not just the prayer but also the muscial worship.

With the fresh morning, the Men’s Prayer Breakfast came to the SWEAT house. The BBQ was lit once more for the cooking of sausages and bacon, the frying of eggs and the eating of baps. The sun must of had his sunglasses on, as he kept on shining for ‘Meet the Living Well Family.’ I fully enjoyed the day with plenty of fun and games, food and Testmonies from members of the family.

tter and find out what SWEAT is all about.

We travelled down to Camelford on Friday afternoon and set up ready for an evening of fun and relational time. We played a few “getting to know you” games and spent some time chatting with our guests. We ended the evening with hot chocolate and marshmellows round the fire!

On Saturday our weather prayers were answered and we were able to do our school sports day style games outside on the grass! Great fun! After a lovely lunch of pasties followed by scrummy cakes provided by Carol, we headed off to Tintagel. We payed a visit to the famous “Granny Wooblies” fudge shop and bought some treats before heading off the the beach where a bit of rock climbing commenced!

It was a lovely weekend (once again it was brilliantly hosted by Mike and Carol) and the feedback from our guests was really positive. A great time had by all!

rked on a dairy farm on the Isle of Wight. When we got there we had a walk around two of the fields and had a prayer time.

Then in true builder style we cracked open the flask and had a coffee.

Then when the owner arrived we had a look around at all the tasks that needed to be done. As we walked into one of the stores there were a few animal medicines, drench gun and clippers. At this point, looking at the animal hand clippers, I tried them on Mathew’s hair, but they seemed to tear more than sheer to Matt’s screams of pain.

Fun over with, we had to get on with work. First store shed needed a lot of tidying but its amazing what four over excited and keen men can do especially with the mention of having a fire. With in minutes we had enough provisions to start our fire and it was roaring in seconds. As the fire was burning we emptied the store shed. The only problem we had was, the fire a couple of times, got a bit too intense and we had to wait till it died down before we could put more stuff on it. Once this was done we started on the next one. The only thing that broke our cycle of clearing was pasties, coffee and cake that was kindly supplied to us.

This for us was a real therapeutic day as we got to have a big fire, smash glass in the skip and feel real satisfied from leaving the store sheds in a tidy state.

It is the second week into term. I thought that last week was a good way to start off the term, it was face your fears week .

On Thursday it was Allie’s birthday! To celebrate Allie’s birthday she wanted to have a t

hemed evening, where we dress up as silly a possible, with a theme. Allie wanted a Greek night. Over our Greek evening we listened to greek music and some people danced. It made the night even funnier as for dinner we had lasagne and garlic bread which isn’t your most traditional Greek meal!

We did have oilves and humous with it.

On Saturday, we ran a day for the Church to learn a bit more about marketing, PR and communications. The day was spilt up into three. The first talk was done by Neil, it was about Communicating the Church’s Vision. Then Clare did a talk on Managing internal and external communications. Finally Ben did a talk on Branding and Effective Church websites. There were a few interactive discussion groups on how we could improve our church communications.

All of us SWEATies had a part in it too. Matt and I had to plan the days activites for the children. So the families who came along had some where for their

pharmacy online without prescription

children to go while they were in these talks. All the children had fun going to the park and being outside in the sunshine. Taylor and Allie were in charge of making sure food and drinks were provided while Josh and Mark were incharge of the PA system.

Bye for now

Holly

Hello,

Term 3 has just started and we are all excited for whats to come.

To kickstart the term Face your Fears comes first.

Face your fears is a week of overcoming our fears, whatever they may be, it was

buy cialis without prescription uk

different for each of us. The week included a variety of different things including Zip wire, snakes and spiders, Coasteering, Caving, Alton Towers, Bug Eating and a Bungie jump.

There is one scripture we all like to use, its 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” it has helped us all to stand on the word of truth to know what is irrational fear and what is rational fear. Rational fear is good because it gives us the sense to know when we are in danger this is God given fear. Irrational fear is not of God and this is usually when your scared of something even though your not even in danger like a bungee jump, which is perfectly safe although you might be scared of heights.

False

Evidence

Appearing

Real

Everyone had to face a fear this week. To overcome that fear, the best way is to know the truth and to trust God that he will protect us. I found a really good scripture that helped me a lot in Psalms 27:1 NLT “The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?”.

From pushing ourselves by overcoming our fears we have stretched our lives further and each of us have a testimony to tell about how overcoming a fear has helped us to have breakthrough in other areas of our lives.

God does not want us to be held back in life because of fear but for us to live in freedom from it.

FACE YOUR FEAR, don’t let irrational fear hold you back.

thank you for reading this weeks blog.

Hello,

Illuminate was a great success but a lot of hard work went into making it happen. This week has been a chance to wind down from the event so we’ve spent most of the week relaxing and socialising.

Near the beginning of the week Mark and Josh decided to meet up to the challenge they set themselves of doing a handstand on a water tower in the quarry.

Another memorable day was Thursday when Neil and Lynn took us out for the day. They took us to Burgh Island which was absolutely beautiful.

The day we went there it looked like a Mediteranean island because the water was so clear!

Although it was a really sunny day, Mark and I discovered that the sea can still be too cold to swim in at this time of year!

We finished our trip out with a lovely carvery for lunch.

This week has been a really great way to end the term and we’re looking forward to next term (especially now that we know we’re going on mission to Germany!)
